Digitalis - The foxglove

A British Physician named William Wuthering published his study of the foxglove plant in 1785. An extract from the plant, known as digitalis, was the first ever heart medicine. It was administered to treat heart failure and palpitations and is still used to this day but more commonly known as digoxin.
The stained glass windows in the surgery depict this plant which is why we have chosen to feature it on this website.
